Adventures in Seattle is a hiking company based out of the Seattle area. Adventures In Seattle specializes in providing private and semi-private guided hikes and snowshoe trips near Seattle and Mount Rainier.

What makes Adventures In Seattle different from other guided tour companies?

For starters, we pride ourselves on offering real hikes off the beaten path. No short, nature walks here. We want to get away from the crowds and experience nature at it’s finest. As a Commercial Permit Holder, we are one of the few companies that offers hikes beyond short walks from the parking lot. That means our Mount Rainier Tours go beyond where other companies go.

These are trails that we’d choose to do ourselves so that you can hike like a local. We keep group sizes to no more than 5 plus guide to curate special, intimate experiences for our guests. This means you can hike at your own pace; you don’t have to worry about being held back by the group, or being too slow to keep up!

After a summer spent hiking solo she began to wonder if anyone would like to join her. And it turns out, travelers from all over the world have done just that! We won’t cancel on you!

For us it’s about creating unforgettable memories for you during your visit to Seattle. This means if you are a solo traveler, we won’t cancel the trip just because we only have one hiker. This means you can book with confidence knowing that the hiking tour will run even if it’s just you! The only time we will cancel is if the weather conditions are dangerous (avalanche danger or lightning).

About Sophia

Igniting the fire of adventure in others to find out how far we all can really go...

Sophia McKee dove into the world of adventure in 2011 with the Mongol Derby, the longest and toughest horse race in the world. The 1,000 km horse race across Mongolia awoke the adventure spirit in Sophia and set her on her path to seek out adventure.

In 2012, she journeyed to South Africa and competed in Fauresmith, their National Endurance Championships. 2013 saw a return to South Africa and a journey into Lesotho for the Lesotho Rescue Ride to benefit starving and stolen horses and livestock.

Her annual quest for adventure has taken her on an epic cattle drive across the Canadian Rockies, swimming horses across raging rivers in Africa, and to the ends of the earth in Patagonia.

Many friends said they were living vicariously through her adventures...and now she wants to take you with her so you can live your own!

Josh Marks is an experienced guide and entrepreneur. Sophia and Josh met through a chance meeting with a friend of Josh’s on a flight from San Diego. Sophia was lamenting about needing an experienced guide and her seat mate said, “Wait! I know a guide, my buddy Josh.” And from there a long distance friendship was born.

Josh has guided extensively in National Parks across the Western US; Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Yosemite, Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Arches and Canyonlands.

2024 marks the first year that Josh was able to step away from his guiding in Sedona and the Grand Canyon to bring his expertise Adventures In Seattle. No stranger to the PNW, Josh has tread on many a trail in the Cascades and in his home mountains in Idaho.
